A case study of the Maven Digital Booth by Natalie Gaines; Director at Ego Hair Studio, Leeds.
Ego Hair Studio is a busy Leeds city centre salon with over 15 hair stylists. Some of these stylists have the capacity to expand on their existing clientele base and bring extra revenue into the salon. For business growth an overhaul of existing social media is required, which includes creating a consistent brand image throughout all related social media platforms.
A key factor in the implementation of the overhaul is to improve the quality of photos documenting work produced on a daily basis. Currently the method of capturing these is the stylists phones, in various positions throughout the salon. This creates a variety of results and a disorderly feel overall when these photos are uploaded to social media.
The selfie station creates consistency when documenting photos as the fixed positioning allows for the use of a backdrop, control of the lighting, and using the same device for all the photos all helps to produce consistently desired results. The selfie station also has the benefit of a built in dimmable ring light which creates perfect lighting to capture great hair photos for promotional purposes.
The user/operator element of the Maven Digital also improves the quality of the results as the client can take their own photo, therefore eliminating the awkwardness of having your photo taken by someone else.
The fun element of the selfie station adds a talking point within the salon environment between stylist and client, but also once our client has left the salon due to the share-ability of the photos. Viral adverting is easily achievable as a frame can added to every photo containing company logos and contact information which in turn is shared with the photo.
The selfie station makes the collection of data and market research possible if a questionnaire element is written into the software package and this can easily be done by Maven Media. This is fully customisable, and therefore is excellent for meeting all needs. To further extend the selfie station’s capabilities, I would like to spend some time developing a “New Client” function so new customers can create a profile for themselves and add a questionnaire to replace the stylist verbally checking when consulting for a new chemical service
“Since receiving our selfie station at Ego, we have found a marked improvement on the overall quality of the social media uploads and now feel there is a more consistent feel. Clients love the fun element of the station, some taking many photos. I have only had good feedback from everyone that has used it, its been great for in store client engagement and brandawarness”, Natalie Gaines; Director at Ego Hair Studio, Leeds.
